I am a young professional passionate about growth and change—whether in life or our writing!

After years of flipping through science programs, I landed on a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language. Why, you might ask–it’s a long story, but it was just one step in my long-running passion for literary and language arts. After finally making that switch to a degree I was genuinely passionate about, I flourished!

Alongside my minor in Gender and Sexuality studies, I got to dive deep into research and critical analysis covering both gender and Chinese studies, the combination of such is incredibly exciting to me. Through both of these programs, I was able to hone my skills in research, editing, proofreading, and developmental critique.

Before my time doing Professional Writing and Communications at Humber College, I had years of administrative experience from my time as a receptionist and administrative professional. I was able to funnel those skills into the management and facilitation of private creative writing communities, where I ensured the success and quality of our member’s work and passion projects. That’s how I grew to become the go-to editor for friends and peers; trusted to bring them publishable results.

I aim to be a literary professional whom collaborators can trust and rely upon. I am dedicated and passionate about any project I set my mind to. The pursuit of knowledge is always a top priority, and I work to be an expert in any task.

Please reach out with any inquiries, thoughts or ideas! I’d love to chat~

A Little Extra

Alyx (they/them)

I am a disabled and queer individual with ADHD; my interests revolve around social activism, pagan practice/metaphysical study, video game production, and any visual art I can get my hands on. I believe that alternative thinking is the root of community development and equitable change. Perhaps the way that we use language and communicate is the exact tool we need to find that success.

I hope to be part of a process which gets people’s stories and ideas out into the world and uplifts perspectives that might otherwise be overshadowed. Creating platforms for gifted authors to share their voices and stories is my life’s pursuit. This world needs more creativity, thus, I try to infuse decolonization into any work that I endeavour. I want to see diversity saturate more and more spaces where new ideologies are paramount.

Maybe it’s *your* work we should be reading next. Would you like to collaborate with me?
